Information for Landowners and Farmers
What we can do:
- Advise on Entry Level Stewardship (ELS) options and Higher Level
Stewardship (HLS) applications and options suitable for your farm.
- Fund 90% of the cost of Whole Farm Conservation Plans (WFCPs) where
appropriate, and undertake specific habitat and species surveys. (The
WFCPs include a complete survey of the habitats and features on the farm that
can be used to complete a Farm Environment Record for ELS and can help with
the production of a Farm Environment Plan for HLS.)
- Advise on how you can upgrade your existing ESA agreement, helping with
ESA Conservation Plans etc.
- Advise on how to comply with Cross Compliance and address issues such
as soil erosion, run-off and use of farmyard manure and slurry.
- Help co-ordinate management practices such as grazing, haymaking and
identify species rich meadows to aid restoration/creation projects.
- Provide practical advice and organisation for habitat creation and
management, particularly on wetland habitats such as ponds, ditches, rivers
and wet grasslands.
- Specific advice on management for wading birds can be provided in
partnership with the RSPB.
We will then monitor the results to ensure that future projects of this sort yeild biodiversity benefits whilst considering the needs of the farm business. More information can be found in our leaflet for farmers.
