The aim of the core project is to maximise biodiversity gains in the Upper Thames Tributaries by establishing a connected landscape of farms undertaking best-practise management. An extensive complementary scientific research programme has been established by WildCRU, to robustly monitor population and ecological responses in several target species and groups. These include water voles, otters, polecats, bats, brown hares, harvest mice, grey partridge, winter wading birds, dragonflies and damselflies, and moths.
